As the Plant Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance and control of the plant’s quality testing and reporting system within the Portland, IN plant.

Requirements

  • You have a four-year degree, preferably in the sciences or engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Quality Manager
  • Previous experience in the development and maintenance of a quality testing/reporting system

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the QMS (Quality Management System) at the local site.
  • Responsible for the document control system and communication to responsible parties as it relates to updates, revisions, and new documents published.
  • Ensure compliance and record keeping for all mandated quality checks, testing, sampling and sanitation activities within the plant
  • Responsible for ensuring the management of the site quality calibration system.
  • Responsible for the audit program, including both internal and external audits.
  • Providing development and maintenance of the quality testing/reporting system.
  • Managing the specification, test methods, and instruction processes.
  • Performing line validations and qualifications as major changes occur, or new products are introduced.
  • Ensure quality records are properly maintained and retrievable.
  • Responsible for ensuring that CARs, SCARs, & ICARs are answered or submitted in a timely manner and with obtainable corrective actions.
  • Responsible for the management of the defective material reject area.
  • Monitor the performance and competencies of plant QA staff and provide leadership, coaching, discipline and development as needed
  • Responsible for the Plant pest control program and maintenance of the housekeeping program.
  • Ensure completion and compliance of training to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitor and analyze internal failure costs and external failure costs to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence of customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with customer contacts, as needed, to align on and execute corrective action plans.
  • Maintain and manage supplier scorecards to evaluate and improve supplier performance.
  • Trend and analyze data to drive focus on key areas for improvement
  • Maintain a safe work environment and support all plant safety programs
  • Active participant in the site management team
  • Responsible for the annual Management Site Review
  • And other duties as assigned.
