About The Position

Airgas is Hiring for a Plant Manager in LaPorte, TX! Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall operation of compressed and liquid gas production and repackaging into cylinders, including all aspects of gas distribution. This role involves promptly correcting any unsafe acts or conditions and strategically assigning job tasks. Task assignments must be based on a combination of factors: customer requirements, current inventory levels, and the specific expertise of employees.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 plus years of management or leadership experience is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales/distribution of industrial gases, welding supplies, or similar products.
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
  • The ability to set standards, delegate tasks, monitor progress toward goals, overcome obstacles, coach/assist team members, assess performance, provide recognition, and proactively address problems is required.
  • The ability to read and comprehend all written documents and instructions is required.
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing is required.
  • The ability to become forklift certified is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with SAP and Power BI software programs is preferred.
  • Prior experience in sales/distribution of industrial gases, welding supplies, or similar products is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate cylinder requirements with region branches or delegates to Asst. Plant Manager or Plant Supervisor
  • Trains and develops assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for conducting timely and quality performance appraisals of assigned personnel with Asst. Plant Manager.
  • Recommends disciplinary action up to and including termination of plant personnel supervisor.
  • Delegates or directly directs and coordinates plant activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize production.
  • Analyses plant budget to identify areas in which efficiencies can be obtained and production costs reduced and then allocates operating budget.
  • Develops plant goals and works with and through subordinate associates to achieve results.
  • Works with Plant Supervisor or Asst. Plant Manager to achieve goals.
  • Follows and maintains all FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements and regulations.
  • Supervises Plant Supervisor or Asst. Plant Manager if position part of operation
  • Maintain all required computer and hand generated paperwork or delegates to Plant Supervisor or Asst. Plant Manager
  • Reports any equipment or facility defects to Operations Management.
  • Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.
  • Responsible for safety and safety practices of assigned personnel.
