About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations at our Bessemer, AL facility. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational performance, accountability, and cross-functional alignment across a workforce of 120+ employees. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in custom manufacturing environments, with a proven ability to drive operational improvements, establish SOPs, and lead through change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least 8 years in plant or senior operations leadership.
  • Experience leading large manufacturing operations (150+ employees), including fabrication or machine shop environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading operational turnarounds and implementing SOP-driven operating disciplines.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Data-driven, hands-on leader with a strong execution mindset.
  • Track record of building accountable, high-performance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all manufacturing operations, including receiving, warehouse and inventory management, fabrication, assembly, shipping, and supply chain.
  • Provide clear direction, accountability, and performance management across all departments and shifts.
  • Establish and sustain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards and proactively addressing risks.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement to improve throughput, reduce waste, and stabilize processes.
  • Identify performance gaps and lead structured turnaround and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP, MES, and other manufacturing systems to improve planning, visibility, and operational control.
  • Ensure operations meet customer expectations for quality, delivery, and flexibility.
  • Partner with Sales, Engineering, Finance, HR, Maintenance, Quality, and IT to align plant performance with business objectives.
  • Build, coach, and develop high-performing teams with a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous development.
  • Serve as a visible, engaged leader with a strong shop-floor presence.
  • Reinforce company values of transparency, accountability, and respect.
  • Use KPIs and real-time data to drive decisions, improve performance, and increase operational visibility.
  • Optimize inventory levels, material flow, and supplier relationships to balance cost, service, and reliability.
