About The Position

The Plant Manager is responsible for directing and leading production operations, labor management, safety and quality management and supply chain operations for the Pratt Industries. This includes short and long range strategic planning, establishing departmental goals and objectives, creating and meeting meaningful KPIs, mentoring and developing team members; including leading through others, initiating and completing projects on schedule to serve our customers and ensuring equipment utilization, housekeeping and optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Manufacturing preferred. Or Bachelors’ degree Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of successful accomplishments in a mid-size, high volume, manufacturing plant. Plastics or Paper manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ of experience leading and managing talent in a mid-size high volume manufacturing operation.
  • Previous experience utilizing ERP systems, AS400 or other related systems
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated ability to define strategy, align goals and create an effective plan towards desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand Mechanical systems.
  • Capability to solve complex problems, utilizing strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to assemble resources needed to orchestrate multiple projects/activities and accomplish goals.
  • Model a collaborative leadership style with the ability to build partnerships and influence others into action.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead production management teams by utilizing collaborative leadership principles; including mentoring and guiding team members to achieve goals, meet standards, foster engagement and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Accountable for the management of all production and supply chain related activities within the plant (safety, P&L, product quality, staff training/development, continuous improvement equipment utilization, KPI’s, etc.), either directly or through team members in alignment with the Division strategy.
  • Develop strategic plans, manage labor and implement cost effective systems to control costs at plant level; operating expenditures, labor, wages, and salaries.
  • Lead continuous improvement opportunities within the plant; manage proactive solutions in regards to problem solving events.
  • Increase production, asset capability and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and delivering quality results. Improve machine downtime, increase efficiencies.
  • Monitor production and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Responsibility for insuring plant scheduling, supply chain and logistics (of finished goods and auditing of raw goods) and warehouse operations.
  • Lead plant operations to deliver high quality product, produced in the most efficient manner, audited for efficiency and shipped on time, within budgeted costs.
  • Manage plant technology improvements, collaborate with teams to create proactive training solutions when new machines installed or current machinery updated or automated to create efficiency in operation and performance of equipment. Employees are trained.
  • Lead the employees to achieve the desired expectations and return on investment on the machines.
  • Plan, organize and lead daily operations in alignment with sales and customer requirements.
  • Create, manage and lead cross-functional teams to enhance operations and quality, build trusting relationships with peers.
  • Collect and analyze data related to plant operations; report on data as required.
  • Develop and manage strategic plans to reduce waste and overtime.
  • Develop systems and processes to track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to confirm effective return on assets.
  • Manage safety programs in collaboration with Divisional Safety Manager and local Safety Manager; commit to a culture of safety.
  • Make a commitment to ongoing learning in regards best in class production technology, operations and processes.
