About The Position

The Plant Manager oversees multiple functional areas and has responsibility for ensuring the manufacture and assembly of glass to metal sealed products from raw material handling through final product inspection and delivery, safely and according to schedule, in manner that meets quality, customer and specification standards. The Plant Manager will lead a team of professionals and is responsible for compliance to capital and operational budgets, financial objectives and manufacturing objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial, Mechanical, Business, or Technical required
  • Experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operation and/or related high-volume industry
  • Experience managing a segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts, OSHA compliance, and quality management systems
  • U.S. Persons

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an environment with hazardous chemicals, plating processes, robotic equipment, and / or explosives preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, controls, reviews, adjusts and communicates production schedules to effectively and efficiently use available resources to meet customer demand while maintaining cost, quality and schedule.
  • Oversee engineering departments to establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Assesses the need, proposes, and implements appropriate systems and metrics that represent department, plant, and / or overall production team success.
  • Continuously assess and improve the glass-to-metal sealing process, implementing lean manufacturing techniques to improve productivity, drive cost reductions, lower scrap and lower lead times.
  • Decides and directs sourcing, utilization, maintenance, modification and procurement of necessary resources to meet production targets including human, material, capital and other.
  • Ensures all manufacturing equipment (machining, plating, furnaces) are maintained and able to support the production lines running smoothly
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures and ensure the plant adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations. Ensures compliance with industry-specific certifications and standards.
  • Acts as liaison between senior management as well as subordinate levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that impact their performance, behavior and results.
  • Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff, in consultation with Human Resources. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations.
  • Teaches and provides mentorship to managers/supervisors in the areas of accountability, employee engagement, motivation, development and retention, project management, lean manufacturing, and other skills required of an effective production leader.
  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
  • Manages and implements special projects within area (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
