About The Position

As a Plant Health Care Technician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the health and vitality of trees through various treatments and maintenance services. You will diagnose and mitigate common tree diseases and pest infestations, apply fertilizers and treatments, assist with general tree care operations, and more. Changes in this job responsibilities may occur at any time.

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English to ensure safety of self and crew.
  • Must be teachable, trainable, and willing to give and receive feedback and work direction.
  • MN Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Categories A, E, and J or ability to obtain license within 3 weeks of hire is required (assistance with study materials and cost of testing provided).
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and snow.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around chemicals, tools, and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times per day.
  • Exposure to dust, pollen, insects (including bees), and noxious plants such as poison ivy.
  • Must be able to wear and use necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbal and in writing, with the general public, customers, and fellow employees.
  • Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information in English.
  • Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment within DOT, OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply insect and disease control treatments, fertilizers, and other plant health care solutions.
  • Monitor tree health and assess environmental stressors, nutrient deficiencies, and pest infestations.
  • Electronically record treated trees and maintain accurate records of applications.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and clients about tree health and care recommendations.
  • Properly set up and maintain work zones to ensure safety for the crew and the public.
  • Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials to job sites.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on tree care equipment to ensure optimal working condition.
  • Participate in team meetings, pre-job briefings, and company training sessions.
  • Adhere to industry best practices, including ANSI Z133 safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned including assisting crew members with tree pruning & trimming, site cleanup and debris removal, dragging brush and chipping, equipment care and maintenance, and more.
