The Plant Controller is responsible for administering and monitoring company accounting policies and procedures at the plant, with a major emphasis on product costing, cost reduction, inventory control, and financial planning. This role will provide timely and accurate operational measurements to controllers and plant management to help drive improved plant performance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of cost accounting and standard cost setting is required.
  • Strong ability to perform detailed data analytics.
  • History of implementing cost reductions.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting functions and monthly closing processes.
  • Familiarity with managing and taking physical inventories.
  • Experience in developing and preparing annual financial plans.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Spreadsheet (Excel) competency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with B&L software a definite plus.
  • Knowledge of automated payroll systems preferred.
  • CMA/CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements.
  • Responsible for working with operations team to find cost reduction opportunities in operations.
  • Maintenance of accurate and reliable product costs including preparation of quarterly margin reports.
  • Provide target costing information for customer quotations working closely with engineering and sales personnel.
  • Track and report on key plant operating measurements.
  • Oversee and audit quarterly physical inventories.
  • Monitor and review inventory balances on a continuous basis.
  • Oversee payroll function to ensure accurate and timely processing including all monthly, quarterly, and year-end requirements.
  • Maintain payroll data base integrity.
  • Communicate performance of hourly and salaried bonus programs to employees.
  • Provide financial justification (ROI) analysis for capital projects.
  • Prepare annual financial plan.
  • Annual financial statement audit/review; assistance with outside auditors.
  • Prepare and submit annual property tax return and other government reports, as directed by the Director of Finance.
  • Oversee plant compliance to corporate record retention policy.
  • Assist Corporate Accounting with resolving Accounts Payable or Receivable discrepancies.
