The purpose of this classification, under the general supervision of the Chief Building Official, is to manage a team of ICC-certified building and fire plans examiners, interface with various departments to coordinate the plan review process, ensure compliance with local, state and federal building, structural, fire, accessibility and systems codes, policies, rules, regulations, and standards. The position requires the incumbent to manage a team of ICC-certified building and fire plans examiners, interface with various departments to coordinate the plan review process, manage customer relations and resolve problems, be the point of contact for high-profile or complex projects, manage the workload, meet the department goals, provide oversight and quality control of the plan review process, make code determinations and provide technical expertise, represent Development Services Department for outreach with the community, facilitate meetings, respond to requests from management, manage the electronic plan review program, and train plans review staff.
