Planning Technician I or II Performs a range of administrative and clerical duties to ensure the smooth operation of Community Development, specifically for planning, zoning, and building functions. Key responsibilities include: Front Desk & Communication: Acting as the primary receptionist, answering phones, routing calls, taking messages, and providing general information about department functions. Correspondence & Documentation: Taking dictation, transcribing materials, and composing routine letters, reports, memos, and other general correspondence. Meeting Coordination: Preparing meeting packets and approval letters, sending out notices for various commission and board meetings, managing meeting calendars, scheduling locations, and coordinating agendas. This also involves publishing and posting meeting notices. Permit & Licensing: Receiving and reviewing building permit applications, determining completeness, calculating and accepting fees, issuing permits, and processing revenue deposits. Additionally, this role involves informing the public about business licensing regulations, assisting with applications, invoicing fees, and helping resolve related issues. Candidates should have a high school diploma and specialized training in administrative, drafting, or word processing functions. We're looking for one to two years of solid experience in roles such as secretarial work, drafting, or word processing. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also welcome. Demonstrating keyboarding proficiency is essential. This full-time position offers $20.35 an hour, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
