About The Position

As a Planning & Scheduling (P&S) Test Engineer, you will support our nation’s missile defense initiatives by leading the system-level integration, verification, and validation of mission planning and scheduling capabilities, including advanced automation for large-scale satellite constellations, within a COTS-based Common Ground Enterprise (CGE).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field OR Master’s degree in a related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 6+ years with a Master’s degree
  • System-level integration, verification, and validation (V&V) of complex space and ground systems
  • Mission Planning (MP) and Planning & Scheduling (P&S) system testing and integration
  • COTS-based P&S software integration
  • Scheduling algorithms and automation for mission operations
  • CCSDS orbital message standards (OPM, OEM, OMM)
  • MBSE-driven integration and test workflows
  • Automated test scripting, including FD interfaces
  • Agile development and test environments
  • On-site integration and test support as required

Nice To Haves

  • Integration experience with Space-to-Ground and Ground-to-Antenna architectures for CGE COTS-based C2 systems
  • Prior space command or operational experience
  • Hands-on experience with: Python InfluxDB, Kafka, Redis Kubernetes & microservice architectures Cloud platforms (AWS, Red Hat OpenStack Platform – RHOSP)
  • Security integration

  • Lab or operational COTS integration experience working closely with systems engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Support CGE integration of GDMS Mission-Unique Software for Mission Planning and Scheduling (P&S)
  • Design, integrate, and validate automated scheduling algorithms, including support for large-scale constellations (up to 3,000 satellites)
  • Integrate and test COTS spacecraft and ground P&S software products
  • Perform system-level integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) across: Planning & Scheduling (P&S) Mission Planning (MP) Command & Control (C2) Flight Dynamics (FD) Ground Resource Management (GRM) Network Management (NM) Fire Control Element (FCE)
  • Integrate and validate P&S and MP algorithms, including: Communication schedule optimization Orbital maneuver planning automation Software rollout planning and execution automation
  • Work with CCSDS orbital message standards, including: Orbit Parameter Message (OPM) Orbit Ephemeris Message (OEM) Orbit Mean-Elements Message (OMM)
  • Evaluate P&S product trade spaces, including scheduling algorithms and open-source solutions used to automate manual planning tasks
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to integration and test (I&T)
  • Develop and execute system test procedures, requirement verification, and system-level validation
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts, including integration with Flight Dynamics (FD) capabilities
  • Provide end-to-end (“cradle to grave”) ownership of test and system engineering activities on a fast-paced system design and integration program
