About The Position

As a Planning Consultant for the Southwest Business Portfolio, you'll lead project management for key programs and initiatives, ensuring work is organized, executed, and delivered on time. You'll partner with Sr. Directors on strategy and long‑range planning, build multi‑year roadmaps, identify new opportunities, and develop business cases that support thoughtful decision‑making. You’ll conduct research on industry trends to help shape the Southwest Business project pipeline and present insights that guide Leadership action. You’ll also drive requirement gathering, process mapping, and digital solution concepting to improve the Southwest Business indirect experience. Working closely with Southwest Business Technology Teams, you’ll help prioritize work for upcoming PIs and translate Customer needs into clear, actionable requirements with an understanding of Customer priorities and challenges. Requirements

  • Knowledge of strategic and financial analysis
  • Ability to have proven analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and provide direction in a Team-oriented environment
  • Ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to contend with the range and complexity of large departmental/business problems
  • Ability to plan and drive complex projects and moderately complex programs to completion
  • Ability to partner and work effectively with managers and Directors to develop and implement departmental plans
  • Ability to have strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex issues in a structured and concise manner
  • Required - High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in: Project management including business case development, communication plans, process mapping and team facilitation
  • Identifying project risks and potential solutions
  • Understanding financial or analytical analysis
  • Communicating and influencing peers and project team Stakeholders
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Experience developing well-written presentations and roadmaps
  • Preferred: Prior experience working in the travel/airline industry
  • Preferred: Experience analyzing project data and preparing reports on outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive relationships with all internal and external Customers to ensure that all Southwest Business planning activities are adequately informed and are performed in a collaborative manner
  • Perform ad hoc research and analysis on Southwest Business potential project pipeline and portfolio to assist with driving decisions when necessary
  • Perform and maintain any standard reporting as needed
  • Perform project oversight to ensure that Team work is planned, executed, and reported on in a timely manner with high quality
  • Collaborate with Leaders/counterparts throughout the Department
  • Initiate, review, and execute project plans and associated project management activities
  • Facilitate requirement gathering and process mapping to drive clear scope and capabilities
  • Influence project Teams and their Stakeholders to stay on track and on budget
  • Support change leadership and continuous improvement activities
  • Connect information and thoughts into patterns by listening, learning, and researching
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
