About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Planning and Control Section Manager to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) Key Responsibilities Lead the Planning and Control Section of the Range Operations Department Ensure the Section is staffed with qualified personnel needed to successfully plan and manage Eastern Range launch and landing operations Recruit, hire, train, and motivate personnel in an operational environment of varying tempos Ensure personnel are properly trained to execute their responsibilities and receive initial and recurring guidance, instructions, and direction needed to ensure quality and timely service Make work assignments to ensure a sufficient number of qualified personnel are available to meet mission schedules and Section responsibilities Monitor duty hours to ensure personnel are not placing themselves or the Eastern Range mission at risk due to excessive duty times Make overtime assignments when required and ensure overtime is only authorized when required to meet mission requirements where no alternative solutions are possible Provide coaching and mentoring to personnel unable to meet SFRC standards for technical quality, customer service, or timeliness Ensure work products are reviewed prior to release to ensure a quality product and consistency with SFRC operating instructions, policies, procedures, and organizational responsibilities Monitor workflow to ensure on time delivery of products Ensure the actions, products, and recommendations of the Section are well coordinated with all affected or responsible Amentum organizations before release and represent the best possible Amentum product or service Must be able to multitask in all management functions of Range Operations filling in as required to perform roles as both the Manager, Operations Integration and Manager, Range Operations Vigorously pursue initiatives to improve the quality, efficiencies, and timeliness of Section and Amentum enterprise solutions, products or services Prepare and provide progress, status reports, and briefings as required or requested, to inform management of anticipated performance problems, issues, and improvement initiatives Innovative process improvement oriented towards ensuring contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvement methods derived from internal and external integrated process team actions Team builder with orientation towards group dynamics to create synergy with assigned personnel constantly evolving task lists, and short mission requirement timelines while balancing stringent contract requirement

Requirements

  • Possess leadership, management, and supervisory skills that demonstrate, or indicate a high potential for successful direction of an organization of approximately 20 highly specialized subsystem planning personnel, operational control engineers, and subsystem controllers, both exempt and non-exempt represented under collective bargaining agreements
  • Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with the customers, superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Possess an understanding of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), Space and Missile System Center (SMC), SLD 45, and Amentum policies, procedures, and organizational responsibilities for requirements review, operations planning, scheduling, and mission execution
  • Understand the Universal Documentation System and how Range and Range Customer requirements are collected and translated into mission plans, documents, and schedules
  • Working knowledge of the Eastern Range operational subsystems and their interrelationships as they are applied to planning and execution of launch and landing operations
  • Able to develop and maintain procedures and work instructions in accordance with applicable Performance Work Statement (PWS) and the Contract Deliverable (CDRL) requirements
  • Able to organize and lead effective meetings and prepare clear oral and written direction, correspondence, and reports
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adept at public speaking and customer interaction with audiences ranging from Amentum and Government senior leadership through subordinate workforce
  • Must be a self-motivated team player capable of working with minimum direct supervision
  • Must project a professional image when working with the customer
  • BA or BS in a technical, engineering, or management discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of 8 years work experience to include 4 years of supervisory/management experience
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to provide transportation for travel to and between Amentum work locations on Patrick SFB (PSFB), Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • This position is assigned to the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL
