About The Position

As a Pipeline Integrity Engineer you will own the Integrity Management Program for approximately 3,500 miles of liquid hydrocarbon pipelines across the United States. This role provides leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant pipeline operations in alignment with PHMSA 49 CFR Part 195, corporate standards, and industry guidelines. You will drive risk-based decision-making to handle integrity threats, optimize inspection and maintenance programs, and deliver continuous improvement in safety and reliability. Responsibilities include developing and completing annual integrity plans, establishing performance controls, and ensuring multi-functional alignment across engineering, operations, and HSE teams. The role leads all aspects of integrity activities performed by contractors and partners, ensures lessons learned from incidents are embedded in future work, and maintains robust documentation supporting regulatory and corporate compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong business insight, and leadership capability to advance pipeline integrity performance while supporting operational continuity, cost optimization, and long-term asset stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Civil, or Petroleum Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in pipeline integrity engineering, preferably with liquid hydrocarbon systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline inspection technologies, risk assessment, and integrity management programs.
  • Experience with GIS, PODS, and ILI data management tools (e.g., ROSEN, NDT Global, DNV Synergi).
  • Proven track record managing multi-state pipeline assets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and presentation to leadership.
  • Proficiency with integrity software, data analytics, and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multi-functional teams in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain integrity inspection programs to assess pipeline and facility piping conditions, ensuring they are fit for service.
  • Manage integrity assessments (ILI, hydrostatic test, waterway crossings, geohazards, engineering spans, SCC/SSC Susceptibility, Seam Susceptibility, Facility Inspection Program (FIP), Dead-leg management strategy, buried non-piggable pipework strategy) for liquid transmission pipelines.
  • Evaluate assessment results, characterize threats, prioritize repairs and mitigations using risk-based methodologies.
  • Maintain integrity data systems and ensure accurate alignment with asset databases PODS, GIS, and PLOS.
  • Support the annual risk and Pipeline Integrity Management (PIM) programs performance evaluations.
  • Perform fitness-for-service (FFS), corrosion growth, and pressure cycling analyses to determine pipeline remaining life and establish preventive measures.
  • Provide technical guidance for integrity digs, repairs, and modifications in coordination with ILI and NDT specialists.
  • Support engineering design reviews for new pipelines, replacements, and reroutes to ensure long-term integrity considerations are met.
  • Identify emerging threats (e.g., geohazards, seam weld issues) and develop proactive monitoring or mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate closely with ILI, Corrosion, GIS, Risk, and Operations teams to align priorities and resources.
  • Contribute to annual capital and maintenance planning for integrity programs.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior engineers, analysts, and specialists.
  • Manage third-party engineering and inspection contractors to ensure quality, safety, and cost control.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and provide feedback to improve selection and ongoing performance.
  • Find opportunities to apply new or existing technologies, and evaluate, select, and implement the most effective solutions.
  • Implement and maintain a MoC process for temporary repairs, inspection deferrals, and other integrity management changes. Support the risk assessments process and ensure effective mitigation measures are identified and applied. Communicate key risks and the importance of associated mitigation measures to stakeholders.
  • Prepare documentation, audit packages, and responses for PHMSA inspections and internal audits.
  • Participate in self-verification of operating and integrity program performance to drive risk reduction.
  • Participate in integrity-related incident investigations, identify immediate and systemic causes, develop corrective actions, and share lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and rollout of corporate integrity standards, procedures, and training.
  • Use leading and lagging indicators to monitor progress against the objectives and targets in the annual plan.
  • Ensures information management and document control process for the integrity programs.
