The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Assessment and Repairs US, the Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in the field of pipeline engineering, operations technical support, and pipeline integrity management; will perform various engineering analysis and consulting activities as well as develop and maintain engineering standards and procedures; will work within a cross functional team of subject matter experts on various engineering and technical support initiatives and programs for TC Energy; will support Operations Teams to identify and address reliability and maintenance issues; and will provide technical support in areas including of defect assessment, pipeline repairs, pipeline design and maintenance, regulatory compliance, incident response and investigation, and leak detection. What you’ll do Support and drive a strong safety culture in line with corporate and department initiatives. Provide decisions for pipeline repairs (RSTRENG, dent strain analysis, sleeves, leak repairs, composite reinforcements). Supports Operations and US Regulatory personnel with State PUC & PHMSA audits (49 CFR 192). Develops regional scopes of work aligned with strategic Capex initiatives. Collaborate with Project Teams for Front End Engineering and Design (FEED). Maintain assigned policy, plan, and procedures with current industry standards. Be engaged with industry affiliates and knowledgeable of current / changing regulations and internal operating procedures. Participate in industry events (PRCI, INGAA, SGA). Provide expertise, technical support, and training in technical areas such as Pipeline Assessment, Equipment Maintenance, Failure Investigation, Risk Management, Pipe Design, Pipeline Construction and Pipeline Operations and Maintenance. Work with internal stakeholders in Safety and Technical Services, US Gas Operations and management, Commercial Operations, and Projects to ensure activities are completed to maintain the integrity and compliant operation of system assets. Perform Engineering Assessments for increasing pipeline pressures, Operational changes, assessing pipeline reliability and for developing strategies to mitigate threats to pipeline integrity. Office 70%, field and other locations 30%; outdoors in all kinds of weather. Hazards are those typical to construction sites and during travel. Motor vehicle record check required. Overnight travel required, long duration possible.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of professional engineering experience in pipeline operations, maintenance, or related infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of pipeline systems, ASME standards, and basic pipeline integrity principles
  • Experience in Pipeline design, maintenance, assessment, and repair.
  • Experience in incident investigations and PHMSA regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a changing environment with sound decision making, judgment and independent action in line with regulation, company policies and procedures, company values and business objectives and targets
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills with a pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution

  • This position requires candidates to Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Travel across borders and as such, the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this effect
  • Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.
