About The Position

SURTECO specializes in the production and sale of laminates, foils and vinyl-coated fabrics. Our technologies, products and services deliver distinctive performance features, thus helping to support our Customers’ reputations for trusted brands around the globe and in a wide variety of markets. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces. The Pipe Fitter-Boiler Operator is responsible for maintaining and repairing boiler equipment to support our production operations. This role requires a strong understanding of pipe fitting techniques and materials. This is a daylight position. No direct reports

Requirements

  • Proficient in pipe fitting techniques and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to work swing shift
  • Currently a 5-day operation but at any time can change to a 7-day work schedule
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Operate forklifts, machinery, and other equipment properly and with a safety mindset.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Actively involved with safety activities to support positive safety culture.
  • Operate and monitor boilers, auxiliary equipment, and related systems to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on boilers and associated equipment.
  • Conduct water quality tests and maintain appropriate chemical treatment levels.
  • Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, including steel, copper, and PVC pipes.
  • Cut and thread pipes to required angles using hand and power tools.
  • Fit and secure pipes, valves, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance to specified equipment for production or building services.
  • Rebuild equipment as necessary, e.g., pumps/rolls/gearboxes/rotary unions/blowers/fans/air shafts/clutches.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot machinery or process problems ,as necessary.
  • Have a working knowledge of all procedures necessary to perform equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Have a Safety-First approach– Demonstrate/perform a commitment to safety by actively participating in training, working safely, and continuously working to improve the work environment.
  • Make determinations on equipment malfunctions, solve problems, and recommend solutions for mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Plan, layout, estimate and implement minor and major repairs, changes or installations as needed.
  • Work from schematics, manuals, written and verbal instructions with standard maintenance practices to provide timely service to all departmental equipment.
