The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#156050) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025. We seek candidates with expertise in theoretical, computational, or experimental studies of Quantum Information Science and Engineering, including: Quantum photonics Quantum sensing Quantum control Quantum networking Quantum computing Quantum materials The successful candidate should have a passion for research and teaching and must submit a plan for establishing an active research program that fully engages undergraduates. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with graduate students in our Computational Science and Data Science PhD programs and will be expected to participate in our newly launched Quantum Science Initiative. MTSU is an R2 university with a strong emphasis on research. The Physics & Astronomy faculty consists of NSF CAREER award winners, as well as faculty funded through traditional sources such as NSF, DOE, and NASA, including Fulbright and KITP Scholars. The department offers a B.S. in physics with concentrations in professional physics, quantum science and computing, applied physics, physics teaching, and astronomy.
