Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is adding a PRN ob/gyn hospitalist to their team. This regional referral center has 407 beds, a modern facility built in 2010, and a newly-renovated 16 operating room suite. It is centrally located in Murfreesboro, TN, the fastest growing county in Tennessee, on a 68-acre campus on the “Medical Center Parkway” corridor. The hospital campus is undergoing a $110M expansion project, including 36 new high acuity beds, a parking garage, 18 new critical care unit beds, six additional NICU bassinets, and 17 new post-surgery bays. The hospital is known for its women’s services and heart surgery program. Saint Thomas Health and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) partner for training medical residents. Murfreesboro offers top schools, diverse housing, metropolitan amenities, and is home to Middle Tennessee State University. Requirements

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
  • Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
  • Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians.
  • Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
  • Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
