About The Position

Posterity Group LLC, a veteran-owned, service-disabled small business headquartered in Rockville, MD, specializes in federal government contracting and staffing. They are currently tasked with staffing Gastroenterologists for The VA Maine Healthcare System - Togus VA Medical Center. The Gastroenterology staff physician is responsible for providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both hospitalized and outpatient settings. This includes identifying patients' health problems, designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans, coordinating activities of other health service personnel, resolving patient care issues, and educating patients and their families about their care, illness, and management. A significant portion of the physician's time will be dedicated to patient care, with additional time allocated for administrative duties.

Requirements

Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology
Fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine (Residency)
Three to five years of Gastroenterologist experience
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia

Responsibilities

Providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both hospitalized and outpatient settings
Identifying patients' health problems and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs
Coordinating activities of other health service personnel
Resolving problems affecting patient care
Providing appropriate education for the patient/family members regarding the patient's care, patient's illness and its management
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures
Perform Liver Biopsy
Perform Small Bowel Biopsy
Perform Dilation of the esophagus (bouginage)
Perform Esophageal motility
Perform Upper GI endoscopy
Perform Colonoscopy & Flex Sigmoid
Perform Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
Perform Polypectomy
Perform Laparoscopy (Peritoneoscopy)
Perform Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy
Perform Laser: Photocoagulation of vessels
Perform Laser: Tumor Ablation
Perform Gastric lavage & cytology
Perform Sclerotherapy of esophageal varices
Perform Esophageal ligation or banding of varices
Perform Endoscopic ultrasonography with or without fine needle aspiration biopsy
