About The Position

Looking for PA to join new Head and Neck Surgical Oncology practice at Huntsville Hospital and North Alabama ENT. Applicant should have an interest in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, prior experience with ENT is not necessary but highly valued. Applicant will be expected to perform basic Otolaryngology examination procedures after a period of supervised training. These include flexible nasolaryngoscopy, cerumenectomy, anterior rhinoscopy, and tuning fork assessment. There will also be an opportunity to learn head and neck surgical care including peritonsillar abscess drainage. Work schedule will include clinic visits, operating room assistance with opportunity to perform surgical tasks, and inpatient rounding of admitted patients. There are opportunities to learn surgical assisting techniques, including under the microscope if the applicant desires. The physician assistant provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the PA assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research if applicable, program development, and quality improvement. Assists in clerical functions as necessary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Current Alabama PA license.
  • Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board.
  • Maintain ACLS/BLS certification
  • Must have surgical component/experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with ENT is not necessary but highly valued.
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred
