About The Position

The Work: The Physical Therapist will plan and administer treatment plans designed to alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disabilities, and promote overall wellness and mobility in patients. They will work with both in-patient and out-patient clients in a collaborative care setting, with a particular focus on the needs of the geriatric population. The Physical Therapist is expected to provide services consistent with professional standards of practice, ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, and deliver exceptional care to enhance the quality of life of patients. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse. Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • The therapist must have successfully completed the clinical affiliation requirements prescribed by the school, as well as the National Board Examination.
  • Two (2) years of professional physical therapy experience, in the field of geriatrics
  • A valid current license in the District of Columbia
  • Current License Certification
  • Professional School attended (to include diplomas)
  • Declaration of Health

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and administering physical therapy treatment plans designed to alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disabilities, and promote overall fitness and health of patients.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
  • Maintain work area, exam rooms and supplies.
  • Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Follows all of facility's Care and Rehab Services policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in Cayuse Federal policies.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
  • Keep regular clinic hours as approved by Manager/Director of Rehab Services.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Review patients’ medical history and referrals or notes from doctors, surgeons, or other healthcare workers
  • Diagnose patients’ functions and movements by observing them stand or walk and by listening to their concerns
  • Develop individualized plans of care for patients, outlining the patients’ goals and the expected outcomes of the plans
  • Use exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment to ease patients’ pain, help them increase their mobility, prevent further pain or injury, and facilitate health and wellness
  • Evaluate and record a patients’ progress, modifying the plan of care and trying new treatments as needed
  • Educate patients and their families about what to expect from the recovery process and how to cope with challenges throughout the process
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
