About The Position

Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. We have served the Austin community for over 60-years and are proud of our history and tenured leadership team. Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neurobehavioral residential treatment services for children and adolescents. Texas NeuroRehab Center is looking for a PRN Physical Therapist for our Medical Unit with experience and passion in helping people with neurological impairments to join our team! The ideal candidate will have experience in providing physical therapy services to individuals with neurological impairments such as CVA, TBI and SCI. The successful candidate will be able to assess and diagnose patients, develop creative individualized treatment plans, work closely with an interdisciplinary team and provide therapeutic interventions that help people to return to active lives at home and in the community. This PRN position would serve throughout our continuum of care in LTACH, IPR, and Post-Acute Brain Injury Programs. Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Knowledge of neurodevelopment, motor control and neurological dysfunction.
  • Current Texas Physical Therapy License.
  • At least one year of practice as a physical therapist.
  • Experience in Acute Care and/or a Neuro setting highly recommended.
  • Able to sustain physical activity eight hours a day.
  • Able to remain on feet eight hours per day.
  • Able to frequently lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Able to push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills.
  • Able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs.
  • Able to verbally communicate so as to explain treatment to the patient, allow patient to be an active participant, and to de-escalate a crisis situation.
  • Able to visually observe and convey in writing patient progress and behavior.
  • Able to use hands repetitively.
  • Regular and expected attendance.
  • Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  • Physically, mentally, emotionally, and legally capable of fulfilling all job components.
  • Able to complete training program.
