Job Summary Are you a security professional with a sharp eye for executive protection and a deep understanding of threat intelligence? We're seeking a Physical Security Specialist who can proactively identify risks, implement protective strategies, and ensure the safety of our people and assets across diverse environments. This role blends hands-on physical security expertise with strategic insight—supporting executive travel, corporate events, and high-risk scenarios. What you will do Participates in the implementation and execution of physical security programs associated with facility, employee, and executive protection, including event security, travel security, access control camera management (CCTV), and security awareness training. Participates as a team member and subject matter expert on capital project administration, risk assessments, threat intelligence tools, and incident reporting. Identifies solutions, executes tasks, and ensures quality. Works closely with vendors and information technology (IT) as a subject matter expert and an application administrator in the design, development, and installation of various technologies that support the physical security program. Ensures that work abides by established physical security procedures and policies to remain in compliance with regulations and laws, including North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) standards and the Transportation Security Administration directives. Provides training to company and contract employees on security awareness issues, badge issuance, key, core, lock program, and other corporate physical security considerations. Engage in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, or other protective services.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
  • Possess a working knowledge of photography, personal computers, scanners and technology systems and development methodologies in order to support security technology and investigation requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives at one time with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of personnel inside or outside the company and apply a teamwork concept within and across organizational lines to achieve common company goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving techniques and conflict resolution during times of stress and high volumes of work.
  • Ability to travel (up to 80%) and work flexible hours in high-pressure environments
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in preparing and delivering protective risk assessments for executive travel, corporate events, and high risk environments.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification a plus.
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) or similar industry credential a plus.
