About The Position

This position is responsible to the Director of Photography/Videography for assisting the Quillen College of Medicine, ETSU Health, and the greater Division of Health Sciences by providing support to the photography/videography unit of BMC Creative. The successful photography/media assistant will have an understanding of the photography business, a creative mindset, and a proven skill set to perform administrative tasks such as contacting clients and scheduling, and the capability to multi-task.

Requirements

  • Understanding of the necessary components to plan, schedule, and manage the schedule for photography and videography production.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, calmly, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to find creative solutions for challenging situations.
  • Ability to effectively manage customer expectations and those of the photographers as well.
  • Proper phone etiquette.
  • Ability to take direction and produce requested work reliably.
  • Familiarity of the photography/videography environment, including cameras, lighting, and audio recording.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effect, Photoshop, Audition).
  • Experience in photo and video editing is a plus.
  • Experience working on Apple OS.
  • Ability to be a team player and interact with a dynamic creative team, including photographers, videographers, marketing directors, creative directors, graphic designers, print production directors, shoot coordinators, and assistants.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of photography clients, including students, patients, clinic staff, physicians, College of Medicine leadership, and others.
  • Must have own transportation, a valid TN driver’s license, and willingness to travel to location sites around the Tri-Cities.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be flexible to work some evenings, early mornings, and the occasional weekend.
  • Must act, and dress (business casual), in a professional manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in photography, film, digital imaging, art and design, graphics, or media studies is desired; or 1 year of work in a related background. (Studio, marketing rms, news, or related businesses.)
  • Experience working in a photography studio setting, familiarity with photography equipment and professional lingo.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a scheduling traffic system is desired.
  • Experience working with a photo archiving system is preferred.
  • Commitment to continually learning and growing skills, and adapting to new technologies as needed
  • Experience in photo and video editing is a plus.
  • Experience in an academic health science setting is desired but not required.
