About The Position

NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) in East Syracuse, New York, is seeking a Photographer/Video Editor to join its News team. This role involves operating video and editing equipment to produce images and scenes for newscasts and other programming. The individual will organize and edit raw video to match scripts, select and combine effective shots to form logical stories, and shoot video for news reports. The Photographer/Video Editor will also partner with reporters to develop creative and impactful stories, maintain video equipment, edit clips for various platforms including television broadcasts, streaming, and digital content, and operate live Backpack TVU equipment. The position requires working efficiently under extremely tight daily deadlines, exercising good judgment, and demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of ethical and legal issues in newsgathering, along with routine use of appropriate journalistic standards.

Requirements

College degree or equivalent related experience is required
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Minimum two years’ experience operating video editing equipment
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Proficiency with video editing equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Good judgment skills are a must
Comprehensive understanding of ethical and legal issues concerning daily newsgathering

Working knowledge of Adobe Premier helpful

Responsibilities
