About The Position

The PHO - Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the culinary team by ensuring that all ingredients and components are prepared efficiently and to the highest quality standards before cooking. This position is responsible for supporting the kitchen operations by performing essential food preparation tasks, which directly impact the overall dining experience. The Prep Cook must maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, and assist in inventory management to minimize waste. Collaboration with chefs and other kitchen staff is vital to ensure smooth service flow and timely delivery of dishes. Ultimately, the Prep Cook contributes to the success of the kitchen by providing consistent, high-quality prep work that enables the culinary team to execute menu items flawlessly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety standards.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar kitchen role.
  • Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe certification.
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring according to recipes and kitchen standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of sauces, dressings, and other components as directed by the chef.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including proper storage of food items.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Support inventory control by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or spoilage.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation during service hours.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and labeling of ingredients.
