The Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory, Adherence Packaging supports a high-volume pharmacy operation focused on improving medication adherence through specialized packaging and proactive patient outreach. Following an initial training period, this hybrid role offers a primarily remote schedule, with most work conducted via phone in a fast-paced environment handling approximately 1,300 prescriptions per day. Responsibilities include case management support, managing a high volume of outbound and inbound calls, coordinating medication deliveries, and assisting patients with questions related to medications and insurance, including Medicare Part B. This role plays a meaningful part in supporting complex patient populations, including transplant patients, and contributes directly to improved health outcomes. The team fosters a supportive, patient-centered culture and is known for going above and beyond for both patients and caregivers. A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from with rotations starting from 7:00am to 6:00pm. No weekends, holidays or on-call requirements. The potential for overtime is available.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application: Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP)
  • It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
