About The Position

Responsible for scheduling orders for delivery or pick-up and documenting various updates related to therapy adherence. Will perform routine and non-routine pharmacy technician functions and activities related to the position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: making/answering outbound/inbound calls to/from patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, updating patient records, and providing medications to patients in a timely manner to encourage adherence to therapy. The Pharmacy Adherence Technician will evaluate and maintain accurate medication information regarding therapy adherence, medication lists, and prescription barriers under the clinical supervision of licensed pharmacists. Must be able to exercise excellent communication skills to successfully interact with all levels of internal and external parties and to convey information appropriately. Must be able to effectively use, pronounce, and spell common medical and pharmacy terms. No patient counseling will be completed by the Pharmacy Adherence Technician.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent education is required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as licensed pharmacy technician in specialty, retail, mail order, or hospital pharmacy preferred.
  • Following applicable state regulations, state registration as Pharmacy Technician or PTCB Certification is required.
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills. Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.
  • Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.
  • Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, stress, and professional development. Self-motivated and self-starter with ability work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work remotely effectively as required.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Responsibilities

  • Therapy Adherence: To ensure patients are adhering to therapy as indicated by the treating physician through effective communication about prescription refills and barriers in a timely manner.
  • Data Entry and Documentation: To ensure the accurate and timely documentation of patient information into multiple software systems.
  • Pharmacy Support: To ensure that orders are processed in a timely manner by assisting the pharmacists and other departments with pharmacy related tasks.
  • Communications: To ensure that patients, caregivers, and providers can get timely responses and updates regarding orders.
  • Compliance: Follows all federal/state pharmacy/healthcare regulations, and maintains necessary records pertaining to the Board of Pharmacy in the state of residence and compliance within the company.
