The individual in this position will assist in preparing, packaging, delivering, and charging of medication orders, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician certification, as required by State law.
- Accredited training in sterile products preparation
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be willing to work in all areas of the pharmacy services as assigned.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required.

Responsibilities
- accurately fill medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner
- assure all medication orders are verified by pharmacist prior to dispensing
- respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins
- process and document emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits accurately and timely
- accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner
- prepackage and label oral medications and extemporaneous preparations
- prepare non-sterile compounded products accurately and consistent with hospital policies and procedures (USP 795)
- prepare sterile admixture solutions and IV products accurately consistent with sterile compounding policies and procedures (USP797) and (USP800)
- restock medications in IV room and conform to IV cleaning schedule
- complete monthly medication inspections as assigned
- maintain quality assurance logs with proper documentation and notify Supervisor of any deviations from standards
- ensure efficient operational workflow in assigned area(s) and conform with delivery schedule
- display leadership role with areas of responsibility completed and/or delegated appropriately
- follow proper process for handling of controlled substances and report any variances to Supervisor or pharmacist-in-charge
- ensure patient accounts are properly charged
- assist in training and educating new pharmacy technician staff
- aid in development and implementation of performance improvement plans
- troubleshoot i with automated technology (dispensing and packaging)
- acts as an agent, and under the supervision, of the facility medical director while performing medication management related activities at a remote site commonly owned and operated by the Hospital.

- fill and label medications
- stock medications into pharmacy inventory
- restock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs)
- maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications
- deliver medications to patient care areas
- attend to medication requests and phone calls
- prepare IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products. This will also include advanced compounding of chemotherapy and TPNs
- assist in Pharmacy quality assurance activities
- train and educate pharmacy technicians on department and hospital policies and procedures, quality assurance, and performance improvement processes
- comply and assure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures
- assist pharmacists and Supervisors in performing various duties as assigned
- serve as a resource for pharmacy drug distribution functions
