About The Position

Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Quality, Accreditation and Licensing Manager, the Quality and Accreditation Pharmacist oversees the quality, compliance, and accreditation requirements for specialty and retail pharmacies. These pharmacies are regulated by multiple state boards of pharmacy, federal agencies, and various accrediting bodies including URAC and ACHC. The role serves as a primary point of contact for all pharmacy-related audits and involves participation in the Specialty Pharmacy and retail pharmacy Quality Management Program, ensuring adherence to all accreditation requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
  • License Massachusetts Pharmacist required.
  • 3-5 years related work experience required in Pharmacy.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty pharmacy experience. URAC, ACHC, TJC, CPPA specialty pharmacy accreditation experience.
  • Pharmacy quality, safety, or accreditation experience.
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialty Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serves on the quality and accreditation team, coordinating and collaborating with URAC, ACHC and other accreditation entities and business partners to ensure compliance with all accreditation requirements. Assists in preparing the organization for accreditation submissions, reviews and reaccreditation.
  • Participates on the Pharmacy Quality Management Committee in accordance to the policies and procedures developed to maintain compliance with the various accrediting bodies.
  • Ensures that all quality related projects, data collection, reporting, and metrics are accurate, up to date and reported as required to maintain accreditation.
  • Complete patient chart audits for the specialty and retail pharmacies and tracks adherence to the patient management program.
  • Ensures compliance with the licensing and registration requirements of all staff and facilities.
  • Oversees the review of Board of Pharmacy regulations in states where we are licensed in order to ensure that we are compliant with all current and pending rules and regulations.
  • Utilizes tools/programs that assist in determining exposure to accreditation risks and identifies opportunities to manage and mitigate those risks.
  • Tracks training material required for maintaining accreditation with various accrediting bodies.
  • Manages complex quality improvement projects annually or as required by our various accrediting bodies. Prepares and distributes various reports to key stakeholders. Meets with departmental staff and leadership to review reports or requests for data.
  • Provides oversight of clinical decision making aspects of the patient management program and participates on the Clinical Oversight Committee.
  • Provides guidance to staff regarding clinical operational aspects of the patient management program.
  • Provides emergency staffing coverage in the specialty pharmacy to assist operations along with gaining insight into the operation and potential quality, compliance, and accreditation shortcomings/issues.
  • Trains new staff on the quality, compliance, and accreditation requirements of the specialty pharmacy. Develops and maintains policy and procedures pertaining to retail and specialty pharmacy.
  • Works on interdepartmental teams to implement new pharmacy dispensing and patient management software systems. Responsible for ensuring the new system maintains compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Preceptor to Advanced Experiential Students at local schools of pharmacy.
  • Senior Clinical Person for the specialty pharmacy Responsible for providing oversight of clinical decision making aspects of the patient management program.
  • Responsible for the management of Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) reporting. Ensuring the reporting is timely and accurate. When applicable developing action plans to meet deficiencies.
