About The Position

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. This primary purpose of this position is to develop and lead a comprehensive assessment system centered on a culture of evidence of student learning outcomes in all professional and academic programs. The position designs and executes data collection, analysis, and reporting and manages all educator preparation program performance data for the School and on behalf of all educator preparation programs in the School of Education, including Pathway to Practice NC. The position drives the annual reporting timeline for the School of Education, including reporting for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation ( CAEP ), NC Department of Public Instruction ( NCDPI ), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools ( SACS ), and US Department of Education (USDoE). The position designs program assessment structures for the unit, sets the parameters for statistical analysis and conducts those analyses individually or leads a team of doctoral students. The position monitors, collects and maintains candidate performance data to assessment accuracy, validity, integrity, and fairness. The position changes study parameters, as needed, and interprets and evaluates results, prepares reports and presentations for faculty and other stakeholders. The position leverages institutional and program assessment data to deploy visual data representations via Tableau and other tools appropriate to the task. The position provides content expertise for program assessment artifact collection from programs through EdIT supported LMS and other tools. The position collaborates with EdIT to extract appropriate assessment data to perform program assessment and accreditation needs. The position does the same in support of Pathway to Practice NC. The position clearly and concisely conveys performance data in verbal and written form; presents data and reports to various groups; and leads professional development related to data use in the School of Education. The position instructs and trains faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and candidates in the use of School of Education data collection tools.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead program assessment and accreditation efforts with faculty and staff
  • Experience leading social science research projects, including design, analysis, and evaluation
  • Experience building assessment data systems that feed visual analytic tools
  • Demonstrate the ability to direct multiple and multi-faceted projects
  • Possess exemplary communication skills, with a broad range of constituents, including presentations and technical writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework, certifications, and/or experience in data management in a higher education educator preparation context is preferred.
