Organization: HealthIT Pharmacy Informatics Product Group Job Summary: This is a full-time, exempt term position lasting 12 months. Vanderbilt University Medical Center Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Informatics Residency program is a 12-month, full-time residency, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The purpose of the PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available. The mission of the PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics residency is to transition PGY1 residency graduates from general practice to specialized informatics practice that meets the needs for informatics services and ultimately our patients and providers. The resident will be involved with active inpatient and outpatient services which includes multiple levels of system build and informatics clinical decision support. Graduates are well equipped to be fully integrated members of the informatics team, and able to contribute or make recommendations in a fast-paced environment. In addition, graduates are experienced in short-term research in pharmacy informatics, excel in their ability to teach other health professionals, and possess the experience necessary to exercise leadership for pharmacy informatics practice in the health system. Our residency program will provide each resident with specific learning experiences designed to enable the resident to expand the scope of his/her practice skills. The resident will be evaluated on ASHP goals/objectives as assigned on various learning experiences (rotations, longitudinal experiences, presentations, etc.) throughout the year. The ASHP Residency Learning System/PharmAcademic is used extensively, which offers the resident a tailored, personalized, and progressive learning experience throughout the year. This residency will tentatively begin on July 1, 2026, with one residency position available. PGY2 specialty residencies require the successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency year and pharmacy licensure in the state of Tennessee. VUMC pharmacy residency positions in postgraduate year one (PGY1) or postgraduate year two (PGY2) are offered to applicants through the ASHP Resident Matching Program (the "Match"). The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) is responsible for establishing the Rules of the Match, and for monitoring the implementation of the Match. The administration and conduct of the Match is carried out by National Matching Services Inc. on behalf of ASHP.
