The Pharmacist PGY-1 residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California is designed to provide the resident with one year of post-graduate advanced hospital practice experience. The program will provide training in patient clinical practice, drug distribution, pharmacy management and primary care. The resident will have the opportunity to emphasize clinical or administrative involvement. The employee performs job duties with sensitivity to the patients’ diverse cultural backgrounds. The employee maintains competency skills to identify medication safety concerns in the age related population and institutes additional measures to provide a safe environment with consideration to the developmental changes in the patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or related equivalent
  • Current pharmacist intern license in California
  • BLS CPR card
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of office software, e.g., Microsoft Office
  • Ability to serve as preceptor for students
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards relative to hospital pharmacy
  • Clinical knowledge in drug therapy management of common disease, conditions and procedures
  • Ability to evaluate medications regimen to meet patient needs
  • Frequent standing; walking, bending; reaching, occasional sitting, pushing & pulling, lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
  • Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alarms.
  • Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers.
  • Able to read information on medication labels
  • Hazardous drug and investigational biologic drugs preparation and handling
  • Exposure to minimal but constant noise levels.
  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Some functions may include incidental exposure to hazards associated with preparation of cytotoxic medications.
  • Some functions may require use of protective gear such as gloves and fluid-resistant coats.
