Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: All Work Shifts (United States of America) JOB SUMMARY The Resident’s duties involve principally learning and service assignments in keeping with the mandates of a ASHP Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2). These are inexplicably entwined in order to ensure economies of scale, contemporaneous learning and skill acquisition as a member of the Pharmacy team.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree in Pharmacy (required)
  • Completion of ASHP accredited PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency or equivalent experience
  • Ohio Pharmacy License

Responsibilities

  • Obeys and adheres to all of the Hospital’s policies, procedures, rules and regulations; the Department of Pharmacy Policies and Procedure manual for residents; and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Mercy Health Care Services.
  • Adheres to all of the Program’s policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to all applicable state, federal, and local laws, as well as the standards required to maintain accreditation by the TJC, the HFAP, ASHP and any other relevant accrediting, certifying, or licensing organization
  • Participates fully in the education and scholarly activities of the Program, including the performance of scholarly and research activities as assigned by the Program Director, attends all required education conference, assumes responsibility for teaching and supervising students, and participates in assigned Hospital and Medical Staff committee activities.
  • Develops and follows a personalized general pharmacy practice program of self-study and professional growth under guidance of Residency Program Director(RPD) and the Program’s teaching faculty.
  • Keeps abreast of new trends in Hospital Pharmacy and current trends in pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice management. 5%
  • Fully cooperates with the Program and Hospital in coordinating and completing ASHP accreditation submissions and activities, including the legible and timely completion of reports, worked hours, statistically operative and procedure logs, and program evaluations, and other documentation required by ASHP.
  • Applies cost containment measures and validated medication use criteria in the provision of patient care.
  • Attends monthly interdisciplinary and departmental meetings as assigned.
  • Returns, at the time of the expiration or in the event of termination of the Resident's Agreement, all hospital property, including but not limited to, books, equipment, paper, and uniforms; completes all necessary records and settles all professional and financial obligations.
  • Cooperates fully with all Hospital and Department surveys, reviews, and quality assurance and credentialing activities.
  • Uses his/her best efforts to provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care and presents at all times a courteous and respectful attitude towards all patients, colleagues, employees and visitors at the Hospital and other facilities and rotation sites to which the Resident is assigned.
