Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy
  • Pharmacist Registered pharmacist with a current and unrestricted State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy pharmacist license
  • Prescription formula and mathematics for calculating dosage and quantity
  • Working knowledge of all Ohio Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • 1-2 years' experience in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders including the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy.
  • Maintains standards set by the department and translates policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy.
  • Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug related information and literature.
  • Plans and organizes work schedule of supportive personnel and pharmacists, as required.
  • Also serves retail customers who come into the pharmacy.
  • Drug distribution skills including order entry, clarification if needed, accuracy of checking, technician supervision and timely delivery.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer operations, all third-party plans, ensuring pharmacy support staff is knowledgeable in the same areas, trouble shooting, and call resolution.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for professional development, particularly in the area of ongoing clinical education.
  • Demonstrates initiative in accepting additional projects.
  • Seeks areas of improvement.
  • Successfully completes 797 and two NICU competencies.
  • Demonstrates good clinical judgment in monitoring and dose selection of warfarin.
  • Seeks appropriate assistance when needed.
  • Documents monitoring activities and interventions, including formulary adherence Documents monitoring activities and interventions.
  • Conducts order entry, provides clarification if needed, checks accuracy, and supervises technician and timely delivery.
  • Provides clinical information and education to a wide variety of disciplines through one-on-one and group discussion.
