About The Position

The Pharmacist - Data Entry Supervisor is responsible for leading, managing and coordinating the pharmacy data entry and customer care department. Ensures safe, accurate, and efficient inputting of medications for our nursing home customers and residents. Position works closely with staff and customers regarding all medication orders, refills, billing inquiries and customer needs. This position requires a licensed pharmacist with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care. Position is full-time, Monday-Friday with rotating 8 hour shift between the hours of 8:00AM-7:00PM. Position will be part of a Saturday rotation every 4-5 weeks with an off day during the week.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) and possess a valid Tennessee pharmacist license.
  • Obtain additional licensures as needed in all states serviced by the branch within the first twelve (12) months.
  • Prior experience working as a pharmacist with a good understanding of pharmacy operations and dispensing procedures. Long-Term Care experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, exhibit ethical behavior, and demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

  • Must be able to read, speak, and understandably write the English language.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this company, which include a medical and physical examination if the position requires.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Medication Inputting and Verification:
  • Manage department to accurately input medications according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Conduct thorough medication reviews to identify any potential interactions or contraindications.
  • Assist with and ensure daily medication orders are processed, clarified, communicated and worked properly.
  • Clinical Consultation:
  • Provide clinical expertise to the healthcare team, offering guidance on appropriate medication selection, dosage adjustments, and therapeutic alternatives.
  • Medication Management:
  • Oversee the medication administration process, ensuring residents receive their medications in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to address any concerns or questions related to medications.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacy in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Stay updated on changes in pharmacy laws and regulations that may impact the facility.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct regular audits of medication records and processes to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Implement corrective actions and improvements as needed.
  • Medical Records:
  • Ensure medical records, treatment records, ADL, etc. are printed accurately and in a timely manner each month.
  • Collaborative Care:
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens, address therapeutic concerns, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Adverse Event Reporting:
  • Promptly report any adverse drug reactions or medication errors and take appropriate action to prevent reoccurrence.
