About The Position

Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties. External candidates: will be hired as a RN 1 OR RN 2; based on education and/or experience Internal candidates: are eligible for a lateral transfer as a RN 2 or RN 3; must be currently working in the same job code

Requirements

  • RN 1 Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.
  • RN 2 Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent.
  • RN 3 Minimum Qualifications- Internal Only: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 2 (HCP191) or position equivalent.
  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing OR Completed Physical Assessment Course.
  • Professional experience in public health nursing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with conducting comprehensive assessments of client's health care needs.
  • Assists with conducting community needs assessment.
  • Identifies high-risk populations and tailor interventions based on the needs of the population and the resources available.
