About The Position
The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence in the School of Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA is seeking a mature, highly organized, and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Research Associate 1, Research Associate 2 or Research Associate 3. Functioning independently, the successful candidate will participate in basic research studies and perform experiments in the field of cardiac metabolism in the biomedical laboratory of Dr. Qinglin Yang. We are particularly interested in individuals with animal research experience, lab managerial experience, and a background in cardiovascular-related fields. Specific duties include the maintenance of inventory databases, conducting surgical procedures and in vitro assays, collection, analysis, and reporting of research data. RA1 Functioning somewhat independently, incumbent assists with and conducts laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines; keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within area of research; collects, prepares, and analyzes specimens (or animal subjects); evaluates results of ( or response to) process; summarizes data; may provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians RA2 Functioning somewhat independently, incumbent assists with and conducts laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines; keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within area of research; collects, prepares, and analyzes specimens (or animal subjects); evaluates results of ( or response to) process; summarizes data; may provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians RA3 Functioning in a highly independent environment, the incumbent plans, organizes and performs the day to day operations of the research function and conducts laboratory experiments of research projects with final approval of the Principal Investigator. This position is responsible for the organization and management of three different research labs. The level of Research Associate 1, 2 or 3 will be determined based on years of experience and education.
