About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for an anticipated vacancy for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in the Office of Human Resources, Payroll Department. The mission of the Office of Human Resources in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to attract, develop, and retain a highly skilled and diverse workforce that supports the Department's mission. This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Customer Service Experience.
  • Experience working in a professional office setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll/Accounting experience.
  • Experience working in the State of Florida’s People First System (other than completing time sheets or applying for positions).
  • Experience in Microsoft (ex: Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Processing employee separation packages including leave payouts.
  • Monitors outstanding time sheets and provides technical support for leave and attendance issues.
  • Audits payroll problems and follows procedures for salary overpayment processing and payroll warrant cancelations when necessary.
  • Works closely with the staff in the institutions to ensure accurate processing of payroll actions including separations and leave payouts.

You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.
