About The Position

The Children’s Network of Hillsborough is committed to working with the community to protect children and preserve families. The purpose of this job is to manage the daily operations of the Permanency Team responsible for driving permanency in partnership with the Case Management Organizations (CMO) This includes supervising the specialists responsible for coordinating and facilitating staffings to identify barriers and develop a plan to overcome barriers to permanency. Permanency Specialists identify parties to the case and will facilitate staffings. The Supervisor will utilize a trauma-sensitive, strength-based approach to engaging families and youth in the staffing process, mediate disagreements during staffings to ensure effective communication between participating individuals and identify strengths within the family when determining and establishing goals for the child. Responsible for drafting written reports for the court that outline the positions of the team and the overall decision and will testify, as necessary, before the court. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with organizations and other agencies involved with the child welfare system.

  • Knowledge of Florida’s official electronic system of record, Florida Safe Family Network (FSFN).
  • Family and group dynamics with a range of intervention techniques.
  • Social Worker principles, techniques, and practices and their application to complex case work, group work, and community problems.
  • Florida Statutes, DCF Operational Procedures, Administrative Rule, and policies.
  • Child Protection and child development issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and be organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to align parties to a common goal utilizing facilitation and consensus building strategies.
  • Experience in Microsoft office, and computer proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or related human services field
  • Three (3) or more years of child welfare experience
  • Full Child Welfare Certification through the Florida Certification Board
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driver’s license check, and proof of insurance is required
  • Criminal background screening (Local Law Enforcement, FBI/FDLE, and Abuse Registry)
  • Drug Screening is a requirement
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to be proactive as well as handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and ensure coordination and facilitation of permanency staffings (in person or virtually)
  • Ensure the timeliness of written reports for the court regarding the outcomes of the staffing related to placement and transition plans
  • Establishes, enhances and maintains relationships organizations and other agencies involved with child welfare such as DCF, CMOs, CLS, GAL, schools, clinical professionals, and other community programs
  • Maintain an organized tracking system to account for permanency staffings and confirm participation of required attendees and document the outcome in FSFN
  • Participate in ongoing cross-program training, team meetings, and planning
  • Other duties may be assigned as special projects may be requested
