About The Position

Functioning within the context of the framework for professional nursing practice, the Perinatal Safety Nurse serves as a collaborative member of the leadership team who oversees the current and future development, implementation and evaluation of site-specific obstetric patient safety, education and quality initiatives; Examples include, but are not limited to, the national perinatal patient safety bundles and the Joint Commission Elements of Performance for Maternal Safety. The Perinatal Safety Nurse also serves as a champion for the system-wide Maternal Quality and Safety Program including regular educational offering and responses to quality issues and trends.

Requirements

• BSN required. MSN, DNP preferred.
• At least five (5) years of obstetric/labor and delivery experience.
• Connecticut State Nursing License
• Fetal Monitoring Certification
• NRP
• BLS
• Working knowledge of implementation science.
• Background in designing and implementation of simulations.
• Knowledge of current prenatal care guidelines and practices
• Strong understanding of prenatal and maternal health
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
• Excellent observational and diagnostic skills
• Familiarity with the EPIC
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

Nice To Haves

• Previously functioned in the Perinatal Safety Nurse role preferred.
• OB Inpatient Certification preferred.
• ACLS preferred.
