About The Position

Perfusionist - Per Diem -NYP/Weill Cornell Step into the Perfusion Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and be a catalyst for life-saving clinical care. Our Perfusionist are a team to be known by many as one of the best perfusion school sites in the country, and it is recognized around the world for its innovative techniques—many of which have been peer-reviewed and published in major journals. The Operating Room Perfusionist assists in perfusions associated with surgical treatment at NYP and performs total circulatory, regional, and organ perfusions. In this role, you will provide extracorporeal circulation/cardiopulmonary support to patients until they’re able to maintain their own circulatory support. Be an ambitious team member, working alongside operating room professionals who are committed to correcting patients conditions as quickly and effectively as possible. Inject medications using a heart-lung machine. Perform ancillary duties, such as cell saving, ECMO, VAD, plasma saving and IABP. Seeking candidates available to work 1-2 shifts per week and on call weekends. This will primarily be needed for day shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from a recognized college or university or Bachelor's Degree and enrolled in an accredited school of Cardiovascular Perfusion and completed the case requirements to sit for the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Board Examination
  • New Grads: NYS Limited Permit in Perfusion
  • Must obtain American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Board Certification and NYS License within two years of employment
  • Non-New Grads: Board Certified in Clinical Perfusion by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion AND NYS Perfusion License
  • Knowledge of Perfusion Operation/Cell Saver Equipment
  • Knowledge of Lab Dispatch and Retrieval
  • Knowledge of basic principles of perfusion technique, aseptic techniques (microbiology), surgical technique (anatomy), organic chemistry (physiology), pharmacology (of cardiac drugs), metric system, physics, and electronics

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year experience in hospital or biological laboratory utilizing above field of knowledge in clinical practice
