About The Position

The Per Diem EEG Neuroscience Technician I provides overnight support for neurophysiology monitoring in our inpatient setting. Under the supervision of the Neurophysiology management team, this role is responsible for performing high‑quality EEG and related neurodiagnostic studies while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The shift for this role is for overnights 11:00p-7:00am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates degree or graduation from an accredited Electroneurodiagnostics technology training program (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Accredited) OR graduation from an American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) approved Electroneurodiagnostics (END) training program.
  • Credentials in one of the fields: Electroencephalography (R.EEG T) and/or Evoked Potentials (R. EP T)
  • American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostics (ABRET) registry eligible
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Two (2) years of Electroneurodiagnostics technician experience OR graduation from an accredited Electroneurodiagnostics technology training program (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Accredited) OR graduation from an American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) approved Electroneurodiagnostics (END) training program and six months post internship experience.
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal EEG, evoked potential, and/or NCV patterns and/or a working knowledge of abnormalities on diagnostic EEG studies, evoked potential studies and nerve conduction studies
  • Thoroughly familiar with procedures for maintenance of sterility, patient safety and knowledge of proper usage of PPE during patient’s testing in the clinical settings

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrode connections using collodion (adhesive) for Continuous EEG (cEEG) and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) Phase I studies
  • Conduct long‑term EEG monitoring for cEEG with scalp electrodes and EMU Phase II studies using depth and cortical electrodes on inpatient units
  • Perform additional neurodiagnostic studies as assigned, including: Ambulatory EEG (AEEG) and Routine inpatient and outpatient EEG (REEG)
  • Monitor EEG recordings, recognize abnormalities, seizure patterns, and artifacts, and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Maintain a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout all procedures
