About The Position

The EEG Neuroscience Technician II provides high-quality neurodiagnostic testing to support patient care across all age groups. This role performs Evoked Potentials, Routine and Ambulatory EEG studies and Nerve Conduction Velocities (NCV), as well as teaches and assists with cross training of Neurophysiology Technologists Level I, while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate data collection. The technician works independently and collaboratively as part of the neurophysiology team in a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and interventional neuroradiology. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates degree from a college or university in a relevant field
  • Credential in one of the fields: Electroencephalography (R.EEG T) and/or Evoked Potentials (R. EP T)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Three (3) years of EEG and/or Evoked Potential studies and demonstrated ability to meet competencies of the department
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal EEG, evoked potential, and/or NCV patterns and/or a working knowledge of abnormalities on diagnostic EEG studies, evoked potential studies and nerve conduction studies
  • Thoroughly familiar with procedures for maintenance of sterility, patient safety and knowledge of proper usage of PPE during patient’s testing in the clinical settings

  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program
  • Experience with Collodion with all age groups
  • Credentials in one of the fields: Electroencephalography (R.EEG T) and/or Evoked Potentials (R. EP T)

Responsibilities

  • Perform EEG test procedures as ordered by physicians and in accordance with established protocols
  • Conduct long-term EEG monitoring with depth and cortical electrode studies
  • Perform polysomnographic and ambulatory studies
  • Prepare patients and equipment prior to procedure/testing, ensuring proper setup and electrode application
  • Demonstrate advanced skill in collodion application across all patient populations, including neonates
  • Monitor EEG tracings during recordings and make real-time adjustments to ensure high-quality results and adequate tracings
  • Accurately annotate recordings with relevant clinical observations
  • Identify and promptly communicate abnormalities, problems, or emergencies to the physician or supervisor during testing
  • Educate patients on testing procedures and respond to questions with empathy and professionalism
  • Maintain EEG equipment in good working order; perform minor troubleshooting and adjustments
  • Notify appropriate personnel when supplies are low or major repairs are required
  • Complete accurate documentation for patient records, laboratory files, and data management systems
  • Compile procedural statistics and assign appropriate charges to support accurate billing
  • Assist with teaching and cross-training Neurophysiology Technologists as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
