About The Position

The Performance Analyst for the Men's Sitting National Team (MSNT) plays a vital role in supporting elite athlete development, competitive readiness, and strategic planning. This position provides advanced scouting, video, and statistical analysis to enhance team and athlete performance in pursuit of podium results at the Paralympic Games and World Championships. The ideal candidate brings a collaborative spirit, a data-driven mindset, deep volleyball tactical knowledge, and an eagerness to support Paralympic athletes competing at the highest levels in the world. This role requires someone who embraces emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence—to drive innovation in how we prepare, analyze, and support our athletes and staff. Cross departmental support is expected of all positions. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel is expected domestically and internationally (approximately 60-90 days annually). The position is located Edmond, Oklahoma

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Sports Science, Data Analytics, Kinesiology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in high-level performance analysis, scouting, or data science in elite sports.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working specifically in volleyball performance analysis.
  • Demonstrate experience with live match coding and tagging software.
  • Experience presenting technical information to coaches and athletes.
  • Proficiency in volleyball-specific analysis platforms (e.g., DataVolley, VolleyMetrics, VolleyStation, Hudl).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, Excel).
  • Experience with video editing and presentation software.
  • Ability to design and maintain databases and data collection systems.
  • Strong understanding of volleyball tactics, systems, and terminology at the international level.
  • Knowledge of Paralympic classification systems and adaptive sport considerations.
  • Familiarity with periodization, training load monitoring, and sport science principles.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for coaches and athletes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining team connectivity.

  • Must be able to obtain necessary travel visas for international competition.
  • Maintain confidentiality of athlete data per USOPC and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
  • Must successfully complete Safe Sport training within two weeks of hire date.
  • Training must be maintained throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience working with a National Governing Body (NGB), USOPC, or an Olympic/Paralympic sport program.
  • Experience supporting adaptive or Paralympic athletes and sport programs.
  • Prior Paralympic Games, World Championship, or major games experience.
  • Experience implementing AI/machine learning solutions in a sports performance context.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build automated workflows using AI tools (e.g., computer vision for video tagging, generative AI for report drafting, predictive modeling).
  • ISPAS (International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport) membership or certification.
  • Familiarity with athlete monitoring platforms (e.g., Catapult, Teamworks, Athlete 360, SportsCode).
  • Experience with custom coding frameworks (e.g., DataVolley coding windows).
  • Presentations or publications at sports science/performance analysis conferences.
  • Second language proficiency (beneficial for international scouting).

Responsibilities

  • Scouting & Match Analysis Conduct in-depth analysis of top men's sitting volleyball teams for the Paralympic Games, World Championships, and Zone Championships.
  • Maintain the team's opposition scouting database and video analysis libraries.
  • Coordinate with World ParaVolley (WPV) classification and competition databases.
  • Training Evaluation & Athlete Performance.
  • Design and implement data collection protocols aligned with periodization plans.
  • Attend MSNT training camps, competitions, and international events for real-time data capture and analysis.
  • Manage athlete performance tracking systems, including wellness, readiness, and match/training data.
  • Athlete Education & Feedback Conduct individual athlete video review and feedback sessions.
  • Educate athletes on interpreting performance data for self-directed improvement.
  • Create athlete-friendly dashboards and reports that support individual development goals.
  • Competition Support Provide real-time statistical analysis during competitions.
  • Deliver in-match tactical feedback to coaching staff.
  • Conduct post-match video review sessions with athletes and coaches.
  • Ensure all competition analysis deliverables meet program timelines.
  • Athlete Selection & Evaluation Support coaching staff with objective, data-driven evaluations during tryouts and selection camps.
  • Provide performance profiles for prospective athletes and roster decisions.
  • Track and analyze athlete progression to inform selection for major competitions.
  • Development Program Support Collaborate with the Sitting National Team Development Program (NTDP) to identify and track emerging talent.
  • Support NTDP camps with data collection and athlete evaluation as needed.
  • Medical & Sport Science Collaboration Partner with athletic trainers, physical therapists, and sport scientists to monitor athlete health, workload, and recovery trends.
  • Integrate performance data with medical and sport science information to provide holistic athlete monitoring.
  • Team Support & Program Operations Secure Independent Contractor services and ensure contract terms are met.
  • Collaborate across departments on shared USAV initiatives and performance improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate with Women's Sitting National Team (WSNT) performance staff on shared tools, methodologies, and best practices where appropriate.
  • Participate in USAV-wide performance analysis community of practice.
  • Technology & Systems Maintain and optimize performance analysis technology infrastructure.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with USOPC data governance standards.
  • Manage performance analysis technology budget, including software subscriptions and equipment.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management Maintain organized archives of scouting reports, match data, and analysis outputs.
  • Create training materials for staff and athletes on analysis tools and systems.
  • Innovation & Development Drive innovation through exploratory data projects that enhance competitive performance.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to enhance scouting, pattern recognition, and predictive analysis.
  • Stay current with best practices in performance analysis, sport science, and AI applications in elite sport.
  • Champion a culture of innovation within the program, identifying opportunities where technology can provide competitive advantages.
  • External Engagement & Representation Present performance analysis methodologies and findings at the AVCA Convention annually.
  • Collaborate with USOPC High Performance and Team USA analytics community to advance data-driven practices across Paralympic sport.
  • Contribute to the global development of sitting volleyball through sharing of noncompetitive performance insights with the international community.
  • Provide monthly athlete performance summaries to coaching staff.
  • Deliver annual presentation at AVCA Convention showcasing MSNT performance analysis initiatives.
  • Actively participate in World ParaVolley and/or USOPC innovation and analytics working groups.
  • Contribute to program's goal of podium finish at 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
