JOB PROFILE SUMMARY: SCP Health is seeking an experienced analyst who can provide analytical, technical, reporting, and operationally-relevant expertise to monitor, improve and impact the overall performance of our value-based services. The scope of this role will encompass our current service offerings including bundle-based reimbursement programs with health plans, as well as our post acute care and telehealth services. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, who can partner with and support our Value-Based Care Division leadership team. This role will also collaborate with other functions across SCP Health, including Finance and Quality. This will initially be an individual-contributor role requiring initiative, independence, and drive, an ability to work in a dynamic environment, and an ability to support optimal team-based performance in new and emerging models of health care reimbursement. This role will provide standard and ad-hoc business analyses for decision support, together with routine reporting of operational metrics and clinical results. You will have repeated exposure to senior leadership and tremendous growth potential. Requirements

  • Experience working with large data repositories and/or relational databases.
  • Experienced in both verbal and written communication with senior leadership, executives, operations teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and presenting analysis and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders, including c-suite.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including strong knowledge of formulas such as VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, SUBTOTALS, RANK, etc.
  • Possess and maintain other computer skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of specialized software such as payer portals, and data analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated competency in analyzing various contract terms such as RBRVS-based reimbursement; DRG and APC-based prospective payments; fee schedule-based reimbursement such as ASC, clinical laboratory, DME, and pharmacy.
  • Experience with multiple various contract types such as capitation, per diem, and case rates.
  • Knowledge of key quality and clinical metrics for providers including MIPS, BPCI - A, and ACO clinical quality and cost programs.

  • Bachelor's Degree (required), preferably in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in analytical role at healthcare-focused consulting firm, managed care organization/health plan, or healthcare services company
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry including billing and claims, medical coding, payer/provider relations, contracting processes, fee schedules and reimbursement methodologies a plus.
  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is required (Tableau/SQL).
  • Experience with enterprise data warehouse sources
  • Experience with receiving, analyzing, and interpreting external data sets (publicly available data, proprietary data from other approved sources, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of value-based care concepts and experience with structuring and/or measuring risk-based contracts (such as capitation, shared savings, bundled payments) preferred.
  • Graduate Degree preferred (MBA or MS in quantitative field)
  • Experience with BI Toolsets such as Tableau or Power BI, helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assembling, analyzing, summarizing and synthesizing internal and external clinical and operational data sets from hospitals or health care systems, payors and other key health care clients, with the intent to deliver actionable information to SCP executives and operational leadership.
  • Supports executive clinical leadership with needed data, analytics, and reports using both national data sets and SCP data sets to improve clinical performance, improve process and optimize value.
  • Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis related to value-based care initiatives.
  • Develop, model, analyze, and track impact of value-based care/risk-based payment structures for SCP Health.
  • Serves as primary analytics liaison with our health plan and convener partners.
  • Creates and maintains databases to track business performance, including pertinent data tables and registries.
  • Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.
  • Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.
  • Manage a suite of recurring reports (daily/weekly/monthly/etc.) and reporting tools (i.e. dashboards) to ensure stakeholders (from departmental leads to enterprise Senior Leadership) have robust, timely, and accurate data to drive strategic decision making and monitor departmental performance, and identifies adverse trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Systematically/independently identifies critical trends and communicates them proactively to the VBC leadership team, developing additional reports/tools to support further analysis as needed.
  • Assists with design, implementation, execution, and scaling of platforms & value-based care analytical tools
  • Maintains and models value based managed care contracts for the purposes of monitoring contract performance and supporting negotiations as well as internal operations.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of departmental/division/enterprise/industry strategic priorities to inform and focus their analysis
  • Analyzes medical, lab/pharmacy data to identify trends, pinpoint issues/areas for improvement, and recommend solutions and alternatives.
  • Monitors the accuracy, completeness and validity of reporting prior to distribution and ensure the integrity of data through ongoing analysis.
