About The Position

We build web data infrastructure and AI services for enterprise customers, currently at ~40 employees and scaling rapidly over the next 12–18 months. We are looking for our first dedicated People Operations Manager to build the foundational people infrastructure that will support our growth. We have already implemented Rippling for payroll, benefits, and HRIS administration. This role is focused on leveraging those systems to create excellent employee experiences, maintaining compliance as we cross critical regulatory thresholds, and partnering with leadership to scale our organization thoughtfully.

Requirements

  • 5–6 years of progressive HR or People Operations experience, with at least 2 years in a startup or high-growth technology environment
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing modern HRIS platforms (Rippling, Gusto, or similar)
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee matters with discretion and sound judgment
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance operational execution and long-term planning
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner effectively with leadership and legal counsel
  • Self-starter who is comfortable building processes and infrastructure in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Responsibilities

  • People Operations & Systems: Manage our Rippling platform to ensure accurate data, seamless benefits administration, and efficient people processes. Optimize workflows for onboarding, offboarding, and the full employee lifecycle. Focus on employee experience and operational excellence rather than manual administration.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and concerns. Partner with managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and sensitive employee matters. Conduct workplace investigations as needed and coordinate with Legal on employment-related risks.
  • Strategic People Planning: Collaborate with leadership on organizational design, headcount planning, compensation structure, and retention strategies. Provide data-driven insights on workforce trends and recommendations for scaling the team effectively.
  • Talent Operations: Optimize recruiting workflows within Rippling's ATS, coordinate with hiring managers, and enhance candidate experience. Support the hiring process while we scale toward adding dedicated recruiting resources.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Proactively prepare the organization for California employment law requirements as we scale, including CFRA leave management, pay equity tracking, harassment prevention training, and wage and hour compliance. Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies to reflect current regulations and business needs.
