About The Position

We are currently seeking an experienced People Operations Manager to join our highly skilled, dynamic team in Mankato, MN. Nortech Systems is a leading provider of engineering and manufacturing solutions for complex electromedical and electromechanical products. We proudly serve mission critical markets, including medical imaging, medical devices, industrial, and aerospace & defense. Nortech delivers exceptional value by solving complex challenges through innovative, customized engineering, design, manufacturing, and data management solutions. We take pride in our team’s role in making products that make a difference. Opportunity for Impact In this role, you will lead and provide employment support for corporate or operational groups. As a business partner, you will inform and facilitate leadership decisions across the employment cycle including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, employee development, employee relations, disciplinary actions, compensation, benefits, and other functions. Please note, this is a non-supervisory role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or closely related field of study.
  • Six years’ experience working in a human resources function requiring regular interaction with supervisors and employees involving: Recruitment and hiring. Handling employee relations concerns. Job placement and compensation decision making. Employee surveys, talent development, and/or organizational change initiatives.
  • Project management experience. 
  • Professional experience communicating ideas and concepts using written and oral presentation methods.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and/or similar software collaboration tools at a proficient level.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in related subject area and/or advanced professional training with certification.
  • Eight years’ experience working in a human resources function as described above including leadership and organizational development.
  • Experience working in a high-tech manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to cultivate a culture of engagement, skill development, and accountability. Help plan and implement strategic business initiatives involving workforce changes, plant or work area reconfiguration, restructuring, integration, and/or other organizational changes. Develop and implement People Operations solutions that improve performance.
  • Guide business leaders on all issues related to People Operations such as organizational planning, hiring, talent/performance management, employee engagement, base pay and short-term incentive programs, benefits, and succession planning.  Assist with questions about career development, compensation, benefits, tuition reimbursement, benefits, and time off requests, performance feedback.
  • Ensure training and onboarding programs advance quality outcomes for Nortech’s customers.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are regularly maintained, aligned with labor laws and regulations, properly deployed, and followed.  Handle and/or coordinate workman’s compensation, harassment, safety, discrimination, and related workplace investigations.
  • Procure and oversee competitive pay analysis; present findings and consult leadership on recommendations.  Support the utilization of incentive and reward programs; procure and provide best practices information including competitive variable pay data as needed.
  • Facilitate, develop and/or lead employee communications to convey Company messaging, employee recognition, organizational changes, new business, benefit programs, benefit enrollment, policies, pay practices, holiday and other schedules, and related topics.
