About The Position

The People Manager is responsible for aligning business objectives with Members and management. This position formulates partnerships across the People function to deliver value-added service to management and Members that reflects the business objectives of the Company. The People Business Partner will facilitate and manage Member relations matters on behalf of the Company.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four (4) years of professional human resources administration experience, including two years in Member or labor relations preferred OR equivalent through training, education, and other experience
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment and labor laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining consistent, high-quality service levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the Company’s organizational structure, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to Member problems, in a timely manner
  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction contributing to the success of the organization through engaging, developing, and mentoring individuals and teams
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to simultaneously manage several projects Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
  • Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with all levels of management, providing guidance related to Member Relations and Labor Relations, when appropriate
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the operations to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Serve as the contact and liaison for intake and assessment of Member complaints
  • Manage and oversee the team of People Business Partners who investigate and resolve complex Member relations issues; ensuring the team conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of Members, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance; Partner with the legal department as needed/required
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to all levels of management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and management ofPeople Business Partners
  • Work closely with management, Members, and People Business Partners to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide policy guidance and interpretation to Members and management
  • Provide guidance and input on Company restructurings, workforce planning, and succession planning
  • Champion, with the organization, a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible behavior
  • Advise and train managers and supervisors on best Member relations practices and strategies for managing problems and Member complaints
  • Advise management and People Business Partners on contracts, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and negotiations
  • Conduct grievance meetings between Members, management, and union representatives
  • Regularly collaborate with union representatives
  • Draft policies and SOP’s related to company and union policies, rules, and regulations
  • Ensure Company policies and practices are consistent with union agreements
  • Assist with building and implementing member relations and union training
  • Participate in legal mediations, unemployment hearings, and arbitrations
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations related to Employee Relations, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and labor laws
  • Oversee the People Business Partners to ensure administrative duties are handled accurately and timely, including unemployment claims, investigation case files, union grievances, meetings with operators, up-to-date record maintenance, seniority lists, department lotteries, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Employee Relations cases, disciplinary actions, and resolutions
  • Prepare and deliver reports on Employee Relations and Labor Relations trends, incidents, and outcomes to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to address complex Employee Relations or Labor Relations issues, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Track and manage key metrics related to Employee Relations, Labor Relations, conflict resolution, and grievances to identify areas for improvement
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary
