About The Position

The People Generalist plays a key role in supporting Safelite's culture and will provide HR support to multiple Safelite's distribution centers. This role will be the face of the People team for our DC associates and focus their time on the implementation of people strategies to effectively identify, hire, develop and retain top talent to drive extraordinary performance in their location. This position is located onsite at our Ontario, CA distribution center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4-6 years HR specialist or generalist experience, preferably in a fast-paced, distribution environment with emphasis in leadership coaching and associate relations.
  • Key competencies include: building relationships, influencing others and fortitude to challenge the status quo.
  • Knowledge of employment best practices relative to employment law (including California), performance management, employee engagement and optimal workforce planning.
  • Demonstrated stability, judgment and professional composure
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills required in order to communicate and present across all levels within the organization.
  • Critical thinking skills and responsive, proactive, consultative work style required.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the DC leadership teams to support overall operational effectiveness and DC performance.
  • Acts as the point-of-contact to support associates with a variety of HR questions
  • Supports workforce planning by engaging in the forecasting process, acting as a liaison between the DCs and talent acquisition teams and providing innovation solutions to local staffing challenges.
  • Serves in a responsive manner to arising associate relations issues and manages conflict in varying situations such as performance coaching or dissatisfied associates; and directs associates to the appropriate resources for support as needed.
  • Provides coaching and support to field leaders regarding culture development, organizational policies & procedures and communication of key initiatives.
  • Supports the corrective action process by writing documentation, tracking disciplinary steps and keeping files as needed.
  • Supports the new hire process (I9, new hire paperwork, review of PTO, policies, benefits)
  • Assesses and implements proactive retention strategies.
  • Collaborates with DC leaders in the effective implementation of 'people programs' such as recruitment, onboarding, learning & development, performance management, safety and union avoidance.
  • Partners with DC leadership to assess leadership capability and ensure development and succession plans are in place to support current and future business requirements.
  • Coaches and facilitates leadership development programs to build capability; ensuring organizational health by promoting associate engagement.
  • Proactively seeks new ways of doing things to deliver better business results and effectively leads organizational change.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
