Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 18-years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Our People & Culture Internship is ideal for candidates pursuing a number of degrees including Human Resources, Business Administration/Management, Psychology, Sociology, Hospitality, Pre-law, or similar degree.
  • Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application or must have graduated the semester immediately preceding the start of the internship.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at time of application or graduation preferred.
  • Curious and coachable, personable, and patient, action-oriented and accountable.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic about doing great work.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong tech-savvy competency; experience with Excel and Microsoft Teams specifically.
  • Strong organization skills, self-motivation, and learning agility to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Detail-oriented, with a sharp eye for accuracy in both project work and daily tasks.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the capability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Adaptable and self-motivated, demonstrating agility to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bias for action and desire to make a meaningful difference alongside our current teammates.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of senior status or graduate students (preferred).
  • Strong interest in the homebuilding, real estate, and/or construction industry as a preferred career field.
  • Added plus are students who are involved in extracurricular activities outside of their curriculum responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Help create and distribute P&C communications, including, updates, and announcements, to keep employees informed on relevant P&C programs and initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to payroll processes through observation and guided learning with the People & Culture Business Partner and Coordinator, including how personnel changes flow through HR systems and how payroll and benefits questions are handled.
  • Contribute to data analysis efforts and assist in preparing reports for P&C and leadership use.
  • Gain exposure to complex P&C matters such as employee relations through reviewing case studies and learning about employment laws, compliance, and regulations.
  • Partner with the recruitment team and P&C Coordinator on activities related to onboarding of new hires. Communication with candidates and managers, background checks, first day details, and new hire orientation.
